Named after the website that gave the
Hollywood Vampires some of their first exposure to the world, the "Pathway
To Darkness" trilogy chronicles the adventures of a young vampiress named
Kimberly Anne Moriarty as she tries to figure her way through the eccentric and
off-the-wall vampire community in Los Angeles, often getting more than she
bargained for or otherwise something else entirely. Prickly, independent,
and headstrong, Kimmie is cut from a different cloth than many of the other
characters in the Hollywood Vampires universe, lacking the age and experience
that characters like Steele, Brandi, and Wade take for granted, but that doesn't
slow her down in the least . . . which often rubs other vampires the wrong
way. Feh, like Kimmie cares.
The "Pathway to Darkness" story is also the starting point for a new sort of Hollywood Vampires sub-line that I'm calling the Youngbloods, for lack of a better term, which will be focusing on very young vampires still learning the ropes and figuring out the workings of the brave new world they've entered upon their Becomings. Their concerns, desires, and quirks are different from the elder Hollywood Vampires that have been roaming around this site for the past several years, and I thought it would provide me with a great number of possibilities for vampire storytelling of a somewhat different angle . . . as you'll see in the following trilogy of tales, Kimmie's interests in life are a world away from those of Steele or Raven. And speaking of the elder Vampires, just because Kimmie's the main focus of the "Pathway to Darkness" stories doesn't mean that you won't be seeing appearances made by some of the characters you've come to know and love, particularly the younger ones of the elder set, such as a certain antagonistic gypsy and her furry little boy . . . squeak! But enough with the introduction, it's time to let the stories speak for themselves, so sit back, enjoy, and hope Kimmie doesn't annoy you too terribly much . . . she has quite an ability to irk people.

Pathway To Darkness
2: Kimmie Gets Sick The follow-up to the original "Pathway To Darkness" tale, this story chronicles Kimberly Anne Moriarty's further attempts to learn what it is to be a vampire in the big city of Los Angeles, and despite her best efforts, it still seems like the only thing she can turn up is losers and weirdos . . . how hard is it to find a proper vampire in Los Angeles? And when some familiar faces appear, things only get stranger for Kimmie . . . (Purposely kept succinct to avoid spoilers, as opposed to me just being lazy.)

Pathway
To Darkness 3: Pathway To Employment The third and final installment in the trilogy chronicling the adventures of a young vampire in Hollywood, this tale deals with what happens when Kimmie loses her job at Wal-Mart and tries to figure out other ways to bring in an income, because the elder vampires of the city aren't interested in just handing out money to the young ones . . . how are they ever going to learn to fend for themselves if they receive charity, after all? Kimmie disagrees with this idea rather vehemently, and decides to try to get some money the easy way, taking her companion, the eccentric vampiress called Mary, along for the ride . . . and that's not all that happens. Between working for a certain gypsy and running into some of her old friends, Kimmie's life is quite eventful, and in the process, she learns a little something about herself, life in general, and who her friends really are.
